…or “God is in the details” (attributed to Le Corbusier, or was it the American architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe), depending on which point of view you are on.
A visit to many events / exhibitions in India will confirm that. Right from the chaotic entry points and getting lost in absence of any directions, to availing basic facilities like drinking water and washrooms, they are downright pathetic.
Even the ITPO’s Pragati Maidan in New Delhi, which is touted to be one of the best in country falls woefully short of security measures, basic amenities and the most coveted real estate – a parking space. A suggestion to the authorities only gets me dirty looks if not words.
The Delhi Book Fair is currently on at Pragati Maidan and as usual the complacent security personnel did little to book (pun intended) loitering Romeos who had more interest in b**bs than books. There was no information on shuttle service or stalls – furthermore, overcharging vendors really take the fun out of an outing.
My wish list for a better trade promotions complex is just simple; perhaps the authorities are aware of this, but I fear that a devil will most likely justify this demand better than vox populi… and I hope God intervenes before that.
