Yes, MFX is a new phenomenon gripping the nation after RDB (Rang De Basanti) – MFX is simply Munnabhai Effect 🙂 I must confess that before ‘Lage Raho Munnabhai‘, my take on Gandhiji’s ideals was like others my age – indifference – I did not understand it since I grew up on a diet of Krishna’s teachings to Arjun in the Bhagvad Gita.
Now, this movie has made me think – and read more about this man we had all forgotten about but eagerly await his Jayanti (one more holiday!!) Perhaps, his ideals are still relevant, but not all issues can be sorted out the Satyagraha or non violent way. Would it work against Bin Laden and his army of extremists? I read somewhere that according to Gandhiji, Satyagraha will be effective ONLY against an opposition who still has a conscience.
A common man perhaps can fight back against his problems like the corrupt official or a cheating shopkeeper. But, the “chemical locha“, as the protagonist in the movie refers to these ideas, may help the common man till the time he meets a TTE with an offer of a seat in the waitlisted train…(wink wink)
